Thymosin was first extracted from calf thymus by Goldstein and White in 1966. According to the different isoelectric points, thymosin can be divided into three categories: α, β, and γ. At present, more than 20 β-thymosin isomers have been identified, and there are three main types in the human body, namely Tβ4, Tβ10 and Tβ15 , of which Tβ4 content is the highest.

Tβ4 is a water-soluble polypeptide with a highly conserved structure consisting of 43 amino acid residues. Tβ4 can induce hair growth, which is the combined effect of Tβ4 promoting the growth, migration, differentiation of hair follicle stem cells and reducing the expression of extracellular matrix degrading enzymes. YSCP®hair (hair growth octapeptide) is an octapeptide derived from thymosin-β4 (Tβ4), which can effectively promote hair growth.
