Product intoduction:
P otassium Hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the formula KOH, and is commonly called Caustic Potash. Along with s odium hydroxide (NaOH), KOH is a prototypical strong base. It has many industrial and niche applications, most of which exploit its caustic nature and its reactivity toward acids. An estimated 700,000 to 800,000 tonnes were produced in 2005. KOH is noteworthy as the precursor to most soft and liquid soaps, as well as numerous potassium-containing chemicals. It is a white solid that is dangerously corrosive.
KOH exhibits high thermal stability. Because of its high stability and relatively low melting point, it is often melt-cast as pellets or rods, forms that have low surface area and convenient handling properties. These pellets become tacky in air because KOH is hygroscopic. Most commercial samples are ca. 90% pure, the remainder being water and carbonates. Its dissolution in water is strongly exothermic. Concentrated aqueous solutions are sometimes called p otassium lyes. Even at high temperatures, solid KOH does not dehydrate readily.

1. Used for electroplating, carving, lithography, etc.
2. Used as raw material for p otassium salt production, such as p otassium permanganate and p otassium carbonate.
3. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce p otassium borohydride, spironolactone, saparinol, t estosterone p ropionate, p rogesterone, vanillin, etc.
4. Used in the production of potassium soap, alkaline storage batteries and cosmetics in the light industry.
5. In the dye industry, it is used to produce vat dyes, such as vat RSN.
6. Used as an absorbent for analytical reagents, saponification reagents, carbon dioxide and water.
7. In the textile industry, it is used for printing and dyeing, bleaching and mercerizing, and is mainly used as the main raw material for manufacturing man-made fibers and polyester fibers. It is also used for manufacturing melamine dyes.
8. It is also used in metallurgical heating agent and leather degreasing.
